Solar Energy and Protection of Monuments

The Higher Administrative Court of Baden-Wuerttemberg allowed the appeal of a parish assembly against the foregone judgment of the Administrative Court of Sigmaringen, according to which the claimants had been not allowed to place solar cells on the roof of a protected historic barn. The Higher Administrative Court decided that due to the aims of the climate protection the negative impact of the solar cells on the outward appearence of both the listed barn and the nearby historic church could be tolerated.
